WELCOME TO CATHY'S K9 CAPERS
Cathy's K9 Capers offers dog training with a difference. All dog training is held outside on or around the beautiful south downs national park or outside at the Big Barn in Hailsham. This enables us to offer all aspects of training with the natural distractions that you find in every day life.
We offer services ranging from puppy classes, obedience classes working towards awards of various ability, socialisation walks to learn how to walk your dog safely whilst enjoying the company of other dog owners and 1-2-1 behaviour issues including a home visit and consultation.
Cathy is a member of the Guild of Dog Trainers and has more than 30 years experience of handling and working with dogs and horses. Her love of dogs came from her father who was a police dog handler and all of her childhood was spent helping, grooming and learning about the dogs. She began her career by training at Plumpton Agricultural College gaining distinction in an advanced national certificate in equine business management and worked for many years with top show jumpers around the country but her passion for dogs pulled her back to work with them. In 2001 she set up a professional dog walking/training company which grew and grew until with her dedicated team they were walking up to 60 dogs a day. In 2014 she sold her company to focus purely on her love of training and behaviour. All of her own dogs are trained up to the Kennel Club Good citizen Gold level . She continues to attend various seminars and courses to keep up to date with the latest and best methods of training. Training courses attended to date include the IMDT 2 day carer as a dog trainer (the theory behind how dogs learn) , IMDT 4 day career as a dog trainer, IMDT body language, puppy foundation, canine aggression and rehabilitation, clicker training, The Dog Hut canine aggression seminar, Canine studies college Basic concepts and principles of dog aggression, Sussex Canine College canine fear and phobias. Cathy has recently passed her City and Guilds level 4, Professional Recognition Award.
All training carried out with Cathy's K9 Capers is done using only force free methods and the welfare of the dogs comes first and foremost every time.
Cathy's K9 Capers is fully insured and holds a permit to work in the forestry commission areas
